CCR, the arts venue which is home to onedotzero_adventures in motion in Buenos Aires, is a rambling former nunnery that has since been embellished with a network of stitched together architectural appendages built during different era’s. This forms a vast complex of spaces; a maze of vaulted rooms, glazed overpasses, gallery and performance spaces, studios, open air terraces and all manner of courtyards and niches.

Look one way across a high terrace and you will see a magnificent park view of Recoleta in Buenos Aires city, look in another direction, beyond the courtyard walls decorated with street art motifs and you peer in to a polished gallery displaying fine arts. Next door to this is a performance space once the practice studio for live performance troupe De La Guardia, and just beyond this a little further afield are the live performance stages now banging out sound checks for onedotzero live music performances.

The living, beathing all welcoming CCR itself situated adjacent to the incredible Recoleta Cemetery which is entirely laid out like a mini city, wide tree-lined main walkways branching into sidewalks filled with mausoleums.

No small wonder then that this is the perfect place for onedotzero_adventures in motion to spread its creative tentacles into every free nook and cranny; where high brow meets grass roots, and where the juxtaposition of onedotzero themes like citystates alongside terrain come together to evoke a telling of this time and place.

It’s enough to make anyone wow + flutter :-)

this is the view from my hotel room here in buenos aires. and what an amazing sight of the recoleta cemetary – a next door neighbour of the venue for onedotzero’s adventures in motion festival here. it always strikes me as a city within a city – albeit a city of the dead. it has marvelous avenues, mini chapels and mausoleums of families with several floors and grand designs.

the cemetery has thousands of tombs of some of the most influential and important people of argentina, including several presidents, scientists, and wealthy townsfolk as well as Evita, Eva Peron of course. in the heart of buenos aires you can wander a very different city.

great blog on the cemetery here: http://www.recoletacemetery.com/
