Wednesday saw the launch of adventures in motion 2011. The BFI Southbank became a hub of activity and creativity. The first screening of wow + flutter 11 sold out and excited the crowd with innovative ideas in motion graphics, animation, and experimental short-form work. The free audio-visual installation Plasticity, by Jane Grant, John Matthias, Nick Ryan and Kin, was launched and pushed to its limits with live choral performance by Holst Singers, this instantly inspired interaction from the public. When the user creates a noise that can be picked up by one of Plasticity’s microphones, the speakers and lights in the installation come to life to create engaging patterns and connections. The preview highlights and launch party went down a storm and set the standard for the following four days.
