Day 5 of the onedotzero_cascade programme kicked off with a soft skills workshop led by actors Darren Hart and Sharona Sassoon. They prepared an impressive workshop that focused on the importance of communication, listening and working together to help maximize the performance of your group. The workshop included a set of exercises and a breathing technique that is used to relieve nerves by using your diaphragm — an exercise I am still trying to master!

Darren and Sharona wrapped up the soft skills session with a some key points to remember when you are presenting in a team:

1. communicate and listen
2. share your presence
3. feed off each others positive energy
4. support and help each other

After the workshop, John Nussey from Kin joined onedotzero_cascade in the afternoon to talk to each of the groups and discuss their progress and answer any questions.

Next week the onedotzero_cascade groups will be presenting their utopian idea to an industry panel on Monday 25th October.

The final presentation will take place at the BFI Southbank during the onedotzero_adventures in motion festival 2010 on Thursday 11th November 2010. Be sure to come along and support the teams! For more info click here

This morning kicked off with an invaluable presentation by Kin about collaboration. Kin’s founders Kevin Palmer and Matt Wade talked about how collaboration is key to their work ethos and that their work is about people, the spaces between them and their connections to the world around them.

Kin highlighted that the onedotzero_cascade workshop is a fantastic opportunity to meet people that you can work with in the future. For example, one of Kin’s team member includes last year’s onedotzero_cascade 2009 participant, Tomomi Sayuda.

The presentation followed onto group discussion where Kin’s, Kevin Palmer feedback to the groups about their ideas on the brief utopia.

It is the end of day 2 at the doodle bar for onedotzero_cascade teams 1,2,3 + 4!

Today we asked the groups to get together to discuss and document their thoughts, inspiration, ideas and progress responding to the theme of utopia. onedotzero director, Shane Walter set the brief during his presentation at the end of yesterday, which left 40 creative brains buzzing with new knowledge and inspiration as they left for the day. Read the full onedotzero_cascade brief here

It has been an intense day with many different ideas flying all over, paint on the walls and a lot of doodling! One team has been inspired by the future that they took a trip down to the science museum (http://madebypo.tumblr.com/). Other teams collaborated ideas in Battersea park, in pubs or used the space available to them at the doodle bar.

To follow on, Kin will be presenting a 40 minute presentation on collaboration and will follow on to group discussions tomorrow!

We have a very exciting day ahead of us so watch this space for an update of DAY 3 at the onedotzero_cascade 2010 workshop!
