EDUCATION:
25 MAY: REMASTERED INTEL WORKSHOP: DIY ELECTRO DOUGH
In May, onedotzero teamed up with Jotta and Technology Will Save Us for a fun filled evening workshop that explored the intersection where technology, art and electro-plasticine meet. Technology Will Save Us led the first of three interactive workshops hosted by Intel, where all participants got to take a hands on approach to discover the possibilities of using electronics and programming in creating physical objects. Thanks to everyone who attended the workshop and helped bring some kind of creature to life! more

27 MAY: AV:LAB X MAPPING FESTIVAL
onedotzero’s director Shane Walter joined AV:lab at the renowned Mapping Festival in Geneva to discuss industry and career development within audiovisual arts. Shane joined visual entities UVA and lightrhythm visuals to share their views on how it has been possible to develop an industry and careers around visual arts. Additional themed talks followed from RVA, Shantell Martin, Olga Mink and Benge. more

28 MAY: BELGRADE DESIGN WEEK
Flying straight from Geneva to Belgrade Shane Walter joined the 6th Belgrade Design Week as a guest speaker for the future² conference. Over three days, the international conference had the “leading global creative minds of the 21st century” presenting. Shane described his journey through onedotzero’s beginnings to developing one of “the most progressive and forward thinking organisations in contemporary moving image, graphics and performance”. more

03 JUN: MUTEK 2011
Crossing the Atlantic, Shane Walter attended the 12th edition of Mutek – the international festival of digital creativity and electronic music to discuss digital arts in the public sphere. With a background of fantastic AV festival performances, he joined a panel sharing their ideas and efforts specifically designed to enhance and alter the public sphere and see our environments anew. more

23 JUN: CREATE11 SYMPOSIUM
Back in London, Shane Walter took part in a one-day symposium to discuss creative practice in interaction design with a panel of theorists and practitioners. The afternoon panel discussion included presentations, quickfire showcases and a panel discussion with academics, researchers and practitioners. more

30 JUN-01 JUL: D&AD NEW BLOOD 2011
During D&AD’s New Blood Festival onedotzero opened the doors of its Shoreditch-based studio to 20 lucky students! The students got to meet the team, get behind-the-scenes insight into projects and watch exclusive sneak preview clips from the forthcoming onedotzero_adventures in motion festival, set to take place at the BFI Southbank from 23-27 November 2011. more

21 JUL: YOTA@STRELKA 2011
As part of the week of Yota@Strelka, The Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design invited Shane Walter to Moscow to give a lecture on adventures in digital art and design, speaking about interactive art being at the centre of public interest and attention. Shane also took part in the press conference for Yota Space – an international festival in Saint Petersburg dedicated to digital culture and digital art. onedotzero will join the Yota Space festival in Spring 2012! more

24 JUL: BAFTA RUSHES SOHO SHORTS: SHORT FILMMAKERS’ MARKET
Back in London the team at onedotzero teamed up with BAFTA and Rushes to present Play It Up: Innovation, Films and Gaming panel discussion. Our guest speakers Dawid Marcinkowski, Nick Ryan, Ali Maggs and Arivind Abraham presented a diverse range of successful, innovative and inspiring models of creativity. The talk explored the ever-blurring line between the world of video games and films, and the rapid convergence of the two manifesting in narrative video games and interactive films. The audience was awed by the hour-long discussion and actively participated in an extended question session. more

26 JUL: ICO TRAINING COURSE: DEVELOPING YOUR FILM FESTIVAL
Flying straight from Moscow to Croatia, Shane Walter headed to the Istrian, medieval hilltop town of Motovun to join The British Independent Cinema Office (ICO) in collaboration with the Motovun Film Festival to offer a training course for European film festival organisers. Shane’s workshop session delivered his thoughts and experiences of ‘sustainable development’ for film festivals to almost 40 international festival organising delegates. more

27 APR: ONEDOTZERO X NIPPON CONNECTION FESTIVAL 2011
onedotzero joined the 11th Nippon Connection in Frankfurt to present a screening of j-star 10 as part of their programme of exciting and creative cinema from Japan, which spans a broad range of avantgarde, anime, blockbusters and documentaries. The screening was dedicated to everyone in Japan for the recent massive earthquake and tsunami in the Tohoku-Kanto region. more

07 MAY: ONEDOTZERO X DONAUFESTIVAL
onedotzero’s project manager, Jo Shallow kicked-off the May tour in picturesque Krems in Austria for a brand new collaboration with Donaufestival to present two musically driven screening programmes: wavelength 10 offers up a serving of offbeat new directions in music video whilst onscreen looks at slightly more abstract and experimental examples of moving image work. more

09 MAY: ONEDOTZERO X COLLECT
onedotzero joined the Crafts Council at COLLECT – the leading international art fair for contemporary craft, hosted at Saatchi Gallery in London to present craftwork, a selection of 22 short films and animations that revive a hand crafted approach and explore a tactile aesthetic and post-digital look.
The onedotzero industries produced split screen film of digital potter Michael Eden was also presented for the Crafts Cube exhibition area. more

20-22 MAY: ONEDOTZERO X ATHENS VIDEO ART FESTIVAL 2011
With thanks to the British Council, the onedotzero team travelled in force to Athens for our first collaboration with Athens Video Art Festival, located at The City of Athens Technopolis, a beautiful former gasworks transformed into a multipurpose cultural space. Presenting a series of compilation screenings from the 2010/11 onedotzero tour alongside installations, video art and live audiovisual. more

27 MAY: ONEDOTZERO X WE LOVE JAPAN
Touring in May ended in Portugal for a night of j-star screenings and Japanese DJ sets at Cinebar Passos Manuel, raising money and awareness for the Japan earthquake Think The Earth Fund. This j-star retrospective celebrated some of the most surprising and inspiring music videos, motion graphics and animated shorts produced over the last four years in Japan – a country renowned for its exquisite visual culture and relentless creative talent pool. more

11-12 JUN: ONEDOTZERO X THE SPARK CHILDREN’S FESTIVAL
A fun start for June touring as onedotzero joined The Spark Children’s Festival at Phoenix Square for a weekend packed full of amazing activities, with screenings of onedotzero_sprites 09 and onedotzero_sprites 10 our selection of family friendly films handpicked for the digital generation proving very popular. more

24-25 JUN: ONEDOTZERO X DCODE
Last stop for the June tour ended in Madrid at the brand new arts and music festival dcode. onedotzero’s Head of Operations + Production, Sophie Walter, and Project Manager, Jo Shallow, attended the festival to present two midnight screenings on the festival’s main stage with a 15 minute selection of short film highlights from the latest onedotzero_adventures in motion programme. more
