onedotzero interactive festival ident...

An exciting moment in East London last night as Karsten Schmidt and the team ran the first full test of the interactive identity that will take over the western wall of the NFT Southbank from Wednesday 9th September as part of the onedotzero_adventures in motion festival.

Using the Nokia N900, punters will be able to control the live conversations behind the identity – twisting, turning and feeding the aggregated words to help build our first living, breathing onedotzero identity.

After a detailed development process it’s great to see the bespoke software built by Karsten (in Processing) and Gary working so happily with Maemo 5 (for the not so geeky that’s the new Linux-based operating system on the N900). We’re pretty certain people won’t have seen anything like it.

Now let’s see it at five times the size down at the BFI…

The heart of onedotzero’s festival ethos of ‘convergence and collaboration’ inspired designers wieden + kennedy to take advantage of onedotzero’s vast fan base and harnessing and bringing together constant, global live conversations from a diverse range of social networking to create the identity. Aggregated words and opinions are channeled via specially created software devised by computation designer karsten schmidt. Colorful strands behave organically, gravitating towards invisible paths that will ultimately make the onedotzero logo. a living, breathing identity driven by onedotzero’s audience and online community as well as in person at EMPAC. Projected on the lobby ceiling, you interact with the visuals via cellphone, text and online message.

LOST AND FOUND Original Trailer

Winner of an incredible 61 Intl. awards, including the BAFTA for BEST CHILDREN'S ANIMATION, 'LOST AND FOUND' - Adapted and Directed by STUDIO AKA's PHILIP HUNT - is a beautiful story based on OLIVER JEFFERS award winning children's picture book.
~
Featuring narration by the great JIM BROADBENT, and a beautiful score by composer MAX RICHTER. LOST AND FOUND is available on Amazon UK, PLAY UK & iTunes UK.
~
What the critics say:
'If your voice quivered when reading aloud Oliver Jeffers' children's tale about the blossoming friendship between a boy and a penguin, tears will roll in front of this stunning animated adaptation, narrated by Jim Broadbent. True to the illustrated original, the boy seems a self-contained little chap, whereas the visiting penguin is all curiosity and emotion. The scene with the benevolent octopus is one of the most touching moments in animation I have seen.'
