onedotzero_cascade 08

24 Oct 08 - 04 Nov 08 London

In 2008, students from different design disciplines and educational institutions took part in the first onedotzero_cascade, collaborating together in response to the installation and sustainability work of Jason Bruges Studio via a series of workshops with professional practitioners.

onedotzero_cascade is a platform which encourages and facilitates multi-disciplined working with an aim to promote collaboration and convergence amongst young people, students and graduates from different creative disciplines [e.g. architecture, moving image, product design, illustration, graphic design, interaction design and photography….] For the very first onedotzero_cascade, the brief asked the participants to be inspired and to respond to the work of onedotzero and Jason Bruges Studio. Teams of multi-disciplinary students were formed to collaborate and create a concept which rethinks our city and the environment we inhabit, working with the support of a comprehensive list of external practitioners associated with onedotzero including designers from Wieden + Kennedy, Imagination, Allofus, Squint Opera, Digit, Moving Brands and Kin. The result: 8 days, 80 students, 10 disciplines, 11 professional practitioners, 2 film crews and lots of mucky plaster concluding with a day of activity, debate and discussions at the BFI Southbank. onedotzero_cascade 08 was developed with University of the Arts London and Widening Participation and supported by University of Westminster and The Architecture Association.
