For four days only, Hackney House Austin transformed a 3,000+ sq ft space on 6th Street into the ultimate Hackney-inspired workshop space. Through a carefully curated programme of art, design, music, film, products and events, 25 local businesses had the opportunity to spotlight their work, network with Austin friends, entertain and enlighten, all within an exceptional space.
onedotzero presented three key events at Hackney House Austin:
Interactive Workshop: Engine26 with Daniel Hirschmann
Engine26 is a digital painting workshop. Using touch screen tablets, all visitors to the space were able to create their own live generative paintings. With guidance from the bespoke software’s creator Daniel Hirschmann [Hirsch and Mann and Technology Will Save Us]
onedotzero and Technology Will Save Us discussed the impact that making, craft and creativity have on technology. The session featured the DIY technology kits, ethos and demos of Technology Will Save Us, a haberdashery for technology and education dedicated to helping people become producers, and not just consumers, of technology. Notions of digital craft, sustainability, re-use, fixing, up-cycling and the power of learning how things work were all highlighted.
