onedotzero collaborated with Nike to deliver the creative design across all areas of the 2014 World Basketball Festival – an event spread over 9,000 and hosted at a marina outside the Old Port area of Barcelona’s Port Vell, Spain. Thousands packed into this Nike event resulting in a flurry of social media content that focused on the event’s eye-catching design and celebration of basketball culture.

The festival site included different venues and zones all designed and branded by onedotzero especially for the event. onedotzero creatively directed and planned the entire site from the architectural masterplan and visitor flow to building structures, art directing all spaces, materials and furniture, with interior and retail design and site branding.

Areas included a major Nike WBF pop-up retail and customisation store, one full and two half basketball courts, two product trial zones, a PlayStation videogame space, and barber shop. The site also featured onsite hospitality, changing rooms, extra hoop areas and a variety of food and beverage zones spread across the overall location.

Originally created in 2010 and hosted in New York City as a celebration of the performance and culture of basketball, the Nike World Basketball Festival 2014 in Barcelona hosted thousands of young basketball players and fans from Spain and across Europe. The event featured world-renowned basketball players Charles Barkley, Kyrie Irving, Anthony Davis and Andrè Drummond, a screening of the documentary “Doin’ it in the Park” by Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Couliau, and a concert by Common, in addition to Nike’s ‘Search for the Baddest’ – a search for Europe’s best amateur basketball players led by basketball superstar Kevin Durant.
